Yesteryear Collection

1932 saw the introduction and erection of the familiar Blue Police Telephone Boxes (immortalised by Dr Who) on or near every beat as a means of communication with the local station by the patrolling constable and the public. In order to respond speedily to requests for assistance, The Box Van was attached to each Sub-Division station, replacing the ‘hand ambulance’.
Despite the advanced communications, the station van is still the workhorse of the METROPOLITAN POLICE and this model is a tribute to those men who have been the ‘van driver‘, coping with anything from a lost dog to a violent prisoner.
